Ken Joling was called home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2026. He left the earth doing what he loved: ranching with his sons and grandson. He was 77 years old.
Born on December 11, 1948, at his family home in Mentone, California, Ken was the ninth child of Herman and Edith Joling. He attended Ontario Christian High School in Chino, where he met his wife of 57 years, Jennie. Ken and Jennie were married on August 30, 1968, and lived in Chino, where Ken was a rancher raising calves and ran a successful livestock-hauling trucking business. In 1979, they moved to Big Springs, where he started a dairy farm. Ken was successful in the cattle business, the trucking business, and owned and operated 3J’s Deli and Mini-Market in Grenada for more than 20 years. Ken had a passion for ranching and fulfilled his dream of building a home and ranch for Jennie: Joling Ranch.
Ken was a devout Christian and an active and faithful member of Big Springs Community Church. He loved his church family and always guided his family with scripture. One of his favorite scriptures was from Deuteronomy, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.”
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Edith, brothers Herm and Earl, and sisters Sharon and Pat. However, Ken leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith and is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jennie, and his children: Kenny Joling Jr. (Shantel), Brian Joling (Lorraine), Shaun Joling (Loray), Darin Joling (Toni), Jessica Wallace (Thad), and Justin Joling. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his 19 grandchildren and his 6 great-grandchildren.
Not only was Ken a ‘bedrock’ of his church and a guiding support for his family, but he was generous to so many who asked for his help in need. He loved to support local youth programs, namely the local FFA, and took delight in watching his sons and daughter continue his ranching and trucking legacy. He will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a graveside service with family and a public memorial. The memorial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Big Springs Community Church at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Nollie Malabuyo.
