Why I Love McCloud

By Kaylynn Brown

Hi, my name is Kaylynn Brown, and I live in McCloud with my family. There are so many things I love about living here that itโ€™s hard to choose just one thing to talk about. McCloud is a very special town.

One of my favorite things is looking at Mount Shasta. It is so pretty when itโ€™s covered in lots of snow. I also like to wake up early to watch the sunrise because the clouds turn bright pink, purple, and orange.

When I am at the park, my favorite things to do are swinging on the swings and playing with my remote control car!

Another fun activity I like is horseback riding. At first, it is a little scary, but once you get going, it is really fun.

There are also lots of places to camp right outside of town. My family likes Cattle Camp the best because there is a small lake nearby for swimming. The water is quite cold! Sometimes when I put my head underwater, I get to see small fish and cool-looking rocks. The campground is really neat because there is so much space with trees, rocks, animals and lots of places to explore.

Playing hide-and-seek there is the best.

We have a lot of fun activities here, too, like the flea market and the Mushroom Festival are a few. I like walking around and seeing all the cool things people are selling. The food is amazing! My favorite things to get are the popcorn and a big cup of lemonade.

But the most important part of this town is definitely the people. Everyone here is so nice, and it feels like everyone knows each other. When you walk down the street, people wave and say hello.  I love going for walks with Shareen and Rye; we go explore the woods and Shareen teaches me lots of things. I really love calling McCloud my home.

  • Love this article. Im happy to say this entire family is wonderful and a blessing to have met, and have living in McCloud. I have had the pleasure of meeting them all including Kaylynn, as my husband and I are the camp hosts at Cattle Camp. They come to see us several weekends during the season, and they are one of our favorites to welcome back to camp. Kaylynn and her mom are very talented and love nature for sure. I was surprised with a thank you gift of a hand wideled wooden gnome (wich are my favorite) made by mom Becky, and Kaylynn is always so sweat and gives out a big hug everytime I see her. Its always a pleasure to see them in town, as we also live in town as our permanent residence when not camping.
