On Saturday our JV volleyball team traveled to Arcata and competed in their JV Volleyball Tournament. We ended up getting 1st place in the Gold Bracket.

This is the first year Yreka JV has competed in this tournament. Coach Katie Woodward was happy with her team’s performance. It is an adjustment for our girls to have a long travel day on Friday, stay in a hotel and then get up and have a long day of volleyball. They didn’t get off to a good start going 1-2 in pool play but once bracket play started they figured it out and were able to come out on top.
Yreka Volleyball opens up league play this week at home on Tuesday (9/23) vs Anderson and on the road Thursday (9/25) at UPrep. Frosh/Soph start at 4:30, followed by JV and Varsity.

Big Wins For the Weed Cougars.
Soccer: The Weed Cougars dominated their match against the Trinity Wolves with an impressive 8-2 victory. The Cougars came out strong, scoring three goals in the first half while holding the Wolves to just one. In the second half, the Cougars kept up their momentum, adding five more goals to seal the win. The Wolves managed to score once more, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Cougars’ powerful offense.
Vball: The Weed High School Lady Cougars fought hard to claim a 3-2 victory over the Trinity Wolves in a thrilling volleyball match. After trading sets back and forth, the Lady Cougars dug deep in the fifth set. The team’s energy, focus, and determination carried them through the decisive moments, earning an exciting victory for Weed High School.

What a wild homecoming game! In a high-scoring battle, the Happy Camp Indians emerged victorious with a final score of 74 to 66 against Hoopa Herlong.

In a thrilling homecoming showdown, the Indians mounted a stunning second-half comeback to defeat Herlong with a final score of 74-66. Trailing 44-30 at halftime, the Indians rallied behind a series of critical plays. A touchdown by T. Rhodes and a two-point conversion by B. Rhodes narrowed the gap. “Baby J” then found the end zone, and T. Rhodes added another two points, giving the Indians the lead at 56-54. The momentum continued as J. Wright connected with J. Crocker for a touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion from Wright, making it 62-60. With just 1:40 left in the fourth quarter, the Indians recovered a fumble on the kickoff, setting up another crucial score. J. Wright secured the victory with a final touchdown, literally hopping into the end zone to seal the 74-66 win. The celebrations extended beyond the field as Jordan Crocker and Mary McAbier were crowned the 2025 Homecoming King and Queen.
