McCloud, CA — On Saturday, August 23 Lindy and Dan Fay of Panther Creek Properties LLC invited neighbors, gardeners, and friends to their home on Lawndale Court to share a vision for creating a native plant garden on their half acre property at the corner of Main Street and Colombero Avenue. The garden is to be named after Panther Creek which flows intermittently alongside the property. For generations, this spot has been an open space the town could enjoy—once even home to a tennis court—and the Fays hope to carry that tradition forward.

The envisioned Panther Creek Garden will feature an undulating surface, natural rock elements, meandering paths, and a gazebo. Plantings will include native trees, shrubs and smaller plants grouped to reflect eco-regions typical of the McCloud region.

“Our hope is to create a place where the community can come together, enjoy and learn about native landscapes, and connect with the history and ecology of McCloud,” said Lindy Fay. The Fays also emphasized their desire to incorporate ideas and support from the local community as planning gives way to landscaping, planting and long-term care.

Also attending and co-hosting the event were Wendy Whitson, Board President of the Siskiyou Land Trust, and the Trust’s Stewardship Manager Laura Bradley. Whitson spoke briefly about the Trust’s ongoing work, and desire to deepen its connection with the McCloud community. Bradley highlighted the value and importance of integrating native plants into urban landscapes, and commended the Fays’ vision to create a native garden in the heart of McCloud.

Panther Creek Properties LLC is committed to balancing thoughtful property stewardship with projects that strengthen community connections.
