Absurd gerrymandering attacks North State’s representation

Dahle opposes Democratic hijacking of election process

SACRAMENTO — In a high-handed move to override the clear voice of the California voters who supported independent, nonpartisan redistricting, Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democratic establishment in California are taking the unprecedented step of drawing new district maps for California’s members of Congress in the middle of the decade for pure partisan advantage.

Specifically, they are punishing some of their most vocal GOP critics by putting them in new districts with substantial Democratic majorities — since they could not beat them at the ballot box.

For the North State, this is no abstract political fight. Both of the current members of Congress representing areas north of Sacramento — Rep. Doug LaMalfa and Rep. Kevin Kiley — are specifically targeted in the new maps, their current districts carved up and rearranged.  Under this plan, Shasta, Siskiyou and Modoc counties would share a district with Marin County, the home of liberal Democrat Rep. Jared Huffman. Much of the Sacramento Valley would be in a new district dominated by Sonoma County.

This map was released in a Friday-afternoon news dump, with legislative votes planned next week. Sen. Megan Dahle will be voting against it.

The majority party is breaking an astonishing number of legislative rules and constitutional principles in shoving this plan forward.

“They obviously don’t care what I, as a Republican, have to say,” Dahle said, “but I am confident the voters will see through this sham when it goes on the ballot in a $200 million special election in November.”

Sen. Megan Dahle, R-Bieber, represents California’s 1st Senate District, including all or parts of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties.

I think the Democrat party already has to much representation in California.
If any thing the Republican, Libertarian, and other partys need more seats. Democrats are trying to steal more..
My opinion is its already not fare as far as representation goes.

Most likely this is hysterical data being put out to try and regain control. I am colorless in the arena of political opinion. Therefore I express no loyalty to an idea or a human. Sitting back and watching this play out from the beginning of my life has taught me only one thing. No one on this planet has a single idea of what is actually right or wrong. These concepts simply do not exist. What started out as a device to be able to debate problems until every little issue has been identified in fixed to serve the majority of the common people has been turned into an utter s*** show and a pure failure. The bipartisan system was designed for debate and problem solving. However it is not used for debate and problem solving it is used as a device to simply hate and love. Because that’s all humans really know at the end of the day is hating love and they’re both sides to the same coin. I say beyond a map proof needs to be applied to a claim. This article is written specifically to cause hysteria to get people into action. The writing is extremely poor and obviously comes from a place of anger and toxicity. You may be identified as a journalist but your skills do not exist in journalism. Journalists are supposed to be impartial to these issues and not right specifically about what they are fanatical about because you’re going to get skewed information. Then it gets passed out all over Facebook and there are people who have no idea where you’re writing is coming from or why and they read this and they get really scared. All you’re trying to do right now is start a fear mongering campaign. it’s extremely transparent. You should be ashamed of yourself as a journalist.

  • California’s Governor only intends to implement this redistricting plan in the event that Texas implements the one they’ve designed to give Donald Trump the 5 additional seats he’s demanded. It is dishonest to publish this without telling the full story.
