Ensuring High Levels of Learning for All Students
July 31, 2025
FORT JONES, CA – In response to the press release issued by the Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office and Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office dated July 30, 2025, Scott Valley Unified School District wishes to provide the following clarification regarding Dustin Ray Brown.
Dustin Ray Brown was not, and never has been, a volunteer with Scott Valley Unified School District, Etna High School, nor the Etna Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter. He has never served in any capacity as a mentor, advisor, or support person for the Etna FFA program or any student organization affiliated with the district.
Any connection Mr. Brown may have had to Etna FFA was solely in the role of a buyer at public livestock sales, such as those held at the Siskiyou Golden Fair. This activity occurs outside the regular operations and oversight of Scott Valley Unified School District, Etna High School and Etna FFA Chapter and is open to the general public.
Furthermore, no employees of Scott Valley Unified School District or the Etna FFA program have been questioned or are under investigation in connection with this case.
The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement if called upon.
Sincerely,
Micheline G. Miglis
Superintendent
