
18,000 lightning strikes were recorded across Northern California. Yesterday, Siskiyou County saw 2,434 cloud-to-ground strikes, with 718 occurring within SKU’s Direct Protection Area, mainly in Battalion 4 (McCloud/Pondosa). Precipitation ranged from 0.25 inches to 2 inches in the most affected areas, while outlying regions received only trace amounts.
CAL FIRE Siskiyou has responded to multiple lightning fire reports across the county, confirming a total of 12 fires. The smallest fire involved a single tree, while the largest, the Moffit Fire, covered 2.7 acres.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for abundant lightning on dry fuels for portions of Northern Ca, in effect from Saturday afternoon until late Sunday evening
