Return of medical helicopter will enhance already established fixed wing services, reaffirming commitment to delivering high quality care to the community
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (June 26, 2025) โ AirLink Critical Care Transport (AirLink CCT) is proud to announce the return of emergency helicopter services to the Klamath Basin, with rotor wing operations officially launching on July 1, 2025. This exciting milestone strengthens AirLink CCTโs commitment to accessible air medical services by adding a vital helicopter resource to its long-standing fixed wing base at Crater LakeโKlamath Regional Airport.

โThis is an exciting day for us as we expand our capabilities with the addition of a new asset that builds on our long-standing commitment to serving the region,โ said Deidre Heinrich, program director at AirLink CCT. โBringing this helicopter into service means we can reach more patients and provide our community with even greater access to the critical medical care they need.โ
The base has remained continuously active, with a dedicated fixed-wing aircraft serving the region since 2012, operating 24/7 to ensure timely access to critical care. The addition of an emergency helicopter for 12 hours a day enhances AirLink CCTโs ability to respond quickly and effectively across rural and hard-to-reach areas.
As part of its on-going commitment to the region, AirLink CCT has collaborated with Klamath 911 Emergency Communications District, Sky Lakes Medical Center, Lake District Hospital and Lake Health District EMS to equip these agencies with a new, state-of-the-art online ordering system. This solution allows for a one-button request for emergency air medical transport, reducing call-to-dispatch times by 5 to 15 minutes, saving precious time when every second counts.
โThereโs a clear need for air medical resources in our community. Weโre committed to supporting our healthcare partners in delivering this vital service, while growing to meet their needs for hard-to-reach rural areas,โ said Heinrich.
AirLink CCT is an affiliate of Med-Trans, part of the GMR family.
