The Yreka Library is welcoming community members of all ages to participate in a variety of educational, recreational, and cultural events throughout June.
The library’s Summer Reading Program will kick off on Friday, June 12, with a special presentation by John Jackson of Bugs R Us. The event will feature live reptiles and amphibians and will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, located at 719 Fourth Street in Yreka. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a free drawing.
On Saturday, June 13, families can enjoy Gardening Fun from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will be able to paint a flower pot and plant a flower, or simply plant a flower in a pot. The activity is part of the library’s summer programming and is designed to encourage creativity and hands-on learning.
Also on June 13, the library will host an Art Reception for Jacalyn McNamara from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. McNamara’s exhibit features acrylic and mixed-media works created while caring for her late husband, Paul Janke. She describes painting as a form of meditation and reflection.
In addition to these special events, the library continues to host a Public Health Outreach Program on the first Thursday of every month. Representatives are available to provide information and resources related to health, wellness, emergency preparedness, mental health services, and community support programs.
“Read to a Rescue Ranch Dog” program scheduled for Friday or Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
