Current Situation Summary

IR MAPPING OVERLAYED TO GOOGLE EARTH: July 16th, 2024

The Shelly Fire started on July 3 in the Marble Mountain Wilderness near Shelly Lake and the Pacific Crest Trail. Due to hot dry weather and difficult access, the fire has grown and now threatens communities, private timberlands, cultural resources and wilderness areas. The fire is in unified command between Klamath National Forest represented by CAL FIRE IMT 6, California Incident Management Team 12, and CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit. The primary objectives are to protect life and property, ensure firefighter and civilian safety, and to protect resources at risk.

Cooperating Agencies: CDCR, CHP, CAL TRANS, Pacific Power, Etna Fire Department, Etna Ambulance, Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors, Karuk Tribe, Jefferson Resource Co., FWS Forestry, Scott Valley Community Liaison, Salmon River Community Liaison, USFS, BLM, CAL FIRE, Siskiyou County OES, Siskiyou County Sheriff Office and The 1st District of California House of Representative.
