Etna, CA – The Scott Valley Theatre Company awarded two $500 scholarships to outstanding Etna High School seniors during the recent Senior Awards Night. The scholarships, funded by generous contributions from the community, were presented to Elizabeth Harris and Lucy Denman in recognition of their exceptional talents and involvement in the performing arts.
Elizabeth Harris, who was also named valedictorian of the Etna High School Class of 2024, has been an active participant in local theatre productions since her early elementary school years. She has appeared in several melodramas produced by the MAD players and has showcased her talents as a dancer in various iDance productions at the Avery Theatre. Before beginning her studies at Cornell University, Elizabeth plans to spend a year in Chile.
Lucy Denman has been a prominent figure in Etna High School’s drama productions and improv comedy shows. Her most recent accomplishment was writing, producing, and starring in “William’s Whimsical Wonderlight,” which served as both an impressive production and her senior project. Lucy will be attending College of the Siskiyous (COS) this fall, where she is expected to become a valuable asset to their drama department.
The Scott Valley Theatre Company is proud to support and encourage young artists like Elizabeth and Lucy as they pursue their passions and further their education. The theatre company continues to rely on the generosity of the community to maintain its scholarship program, which aims to recognize and reward deserving students in the performing arts.
