and is celebrated every year on November 11th as Veteran’s Day
The American Legion Post 92 celebrated Veteran’s Day with a parade through town of McCloud and a free luncheon compliments of the Legion Auxiliary and community members for veterans. Veterans in cars and other vehicles including tractors, followed the McCloud Fire Department, Post’s Color Guard, and the American Legion Riders.











Known as the Great War or the First World War, started on June 28, 1914, when a young Sebien pilot shot and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was the heir to the Austria-Hungarian Empire (Austria). Within the month, the Austrian army invaded Serbia.
The many European Nations with its numerous colonies around the world soon became a global conflict.
20 million deaths and 21 million wounded included 8,500,000 soldiers. American forces helped turn the tide in favor of Britain and France. The US mainly fought against Germany in WW1 in April 6,1917.

Over 30 people came to the luncheon that followed the parade. Half of them are local veterans.
