The Siskiyou Community Resource Collaborative is hosting its first annual Siskiyou Family Expo & Community Baby Shower this Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Siskiyou Family YMCA, 350 N. Foothill Drive, Yreka. Admission is free and open to all families.
The event brings together local organizations and service providers under one roof, giving families a chance to connect with programs and support available right here in the county. Participating organizations include Public Health’s Home Visiting Program (with car seat safety and installation information), Siskiyou Early Head Start, Boys & Girls Club, S.M.A.R.T. Workforce, and Fairchild Medical Center OB.
The morning will also feature a series of short breakout sessions beginning at 11 a.m., with presentations by Dr. Marriott, Chelsey Marriott (Doula), and Bob Mason covering family support, parenting, and strengthening the family unit. Attendees who participate in a session will receive a special gift.
For families with kids — and especially dads — there’s a hands-on RC rock crawling experience led by Aaron Griffin of Roughneck Scalers NorCal, including a special Dad Challenge course designed to get fathers engaged and connected with their children. Free ice cream rounds out the afternoon.
Organizers are also giving away more than $1,500 in prizes through a spin-the-wheel drawing, including a new bassinet, bouncers, a playard, organizers, a sound-and-motion stroller soother, and more.
The event is presented by The Collaborative, hosted by the Siskiyou Family YMCA, and made possible through the generous support of Dignity Health North State/Mercy Medical Center, Mt. Shasta.
