On March 21, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., an officer-involved shooting occurred near the Interstate 5 Exit 748 offramp in Weed, California, involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
A Weed Police Department officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the area. As the situation developed, the officer requested backup. An officer from the Mt. Shasta Police Department responded and assisted with the stop.
During the ongoing investigation, officers discharged their firearms, striking the driver of the vehicle.
Both involved officers have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with their respective department policies.
