One of the features of our online catalog is the ability to embed links to outside resources such as digitized books, videos, documents and other supportive resources.ย ย
Lately, upon receipt of some photographs of the aftermath of the Great Train Robbery in 1923 at Tunnel 13 on the Siskiyou Line, and as the photographs were being processed and entered into the catalog, I got wondering if there was a film or video about that robbery I could add to the records.

A search of YouTube revealedย a fewย videos about that event, so one of those has beenย inserted into the records we have about the robbery. ย To access the new photos added to the collection, and the video, please visit theย Siskiyou County Historical Societyโsย website (sisqhistory.org), click on the RESEARCH button, then the ONLINE CATALOG link. ย Once in the catalog use the KEYWORD field to type in โtrain robberiesโ (include the quotes), and the recently added photos will come upย with the link to the video.
In talking about these photos with a friend, she mentioned a great video she recently found about the last train out of Weed on the Siskiyou Line (after the mill recently closed). My curiosity was peaked so I looked it up. It turned out to be a beautifully photographed video with the use of drones as they followed the train from Weed to Medford. If you are interested in taking a look at it, visit the Historical Societyโs website and follow the same path listed above, but type in โSiskiyou Line Documentaryโ in the keyword field this time to find a resource we have about that and you will also find the link to the video.

As the cataloguerย for a couple of theย collectionsย I try to find links to off-site materials I can add to the online catalog records in ourย library. ย Iโve managed to find a few and will continue to add them asย I find them and as time allows – so check back frequently. ย There is always something new and exciting to find.
