Lumberjack Fiesta Parade

The Lumberjack Fiesta Parade on Saturday, July 26th, may not have been long, but it was mighty. The lineup included 12 organizations and people that went up and over the top decorating for the big showoff. (not pictured:) Always there for their community and beyond, was the McCloud Fire Department (who saved three people that got injured during the Fiesta weekend.)  Joseph Rusting driving a 1965 Cushman in loving memory of long-time community members, Bruce “Stretch” and Nina Grant. 

Of the many judges and volunteers, Claudette Silver said, “The parade entries made the judging a bit more interesting this year as many were beautifully done and lots of effort put into them. I, for one, was really impressed with the creativity.”

One hundred twenty-seven years ago this monthย the first rails were laid into McCloud, and the company trains began hauling lumber out to a country hungry to build. The McCloud Heritage Junction Museum presents Engineer Dan Fay accompanied by the daughter of one of theย museum’s founders, Mary Paidakovich, piloting an authentic replica of McCloud River Railroad Company’s Engine No. 5.

The Squaw Valley Riding Club (AKA: the Horsemens)ย  is honoring their lifetime member Vivan Ingram with her son John, escorted by member Jerry Glenn. (Horses also, but that is in the next photos.ย 

The Squaw Valley Riding Club (AKA: The Horsemens) has been part of the McCloud River Lumber Company since 1948. Like with the club members, the little ones, including the little horses, get to ride in the float.ย 

The McCloud Garden Club, founded in 1979, is a community organization that maintains the Blue Star Memorial on Highway 89, contributesย to the Penny Pines program, makesย and hangs Christmas swags for all the businesses in McCloud, participates in the annual cemetery cleanup and the hospice daffodil program, and provides scholarships to graduation McCloud Seniors.

Escorted on a horse-drawn wagon are Little Miss Fiesta and Little Logger 2024 winners, 14-month-old Dakota Savage and 3-year-old Lucas McAbier.ย 

The McCloud Masters group danced their way along the parade route. An annual family reunion led by Arleen Malone Camacho consists of 100+ that gather each year for a golf tournament to raise funds for the Heritage Junction Museum.ย 

As with all the parades in South Siskiyou County; the American Legion Chuela Post 92 Color Guard lead the Lumberjack Fiesta Parade.ย
