| Dear Senator Dahle, I noted a recent email from your office extolling the virtues of the Family Water Alliance and Nadine Bailey COO, in particular. I have a decidedly different opinion regarding them. In 2018 during the efforts to retain the Klamath Dams, the newsletter of Family Water Alliance published an “interview” of Crysten Lambert, former head of Oregon Trout Unlimited and then Chair of the Klamath Compact; her father (Jim Root) served on the Board of KRRC, whose goal was elimination of the Klamath River Dams. Lambert’s article was an “extremely” one sided support of Klamath Dam Removal. I wrote the attached article citing a more compelling examination on behalf of the Siskiyou County Water Users Association, of why the Klamath Dams should stay. I have attached that rebuttal here. Nadine Bailey, in particular, and on behalf of the Family Alliance, refused to publish our rebuttal to the one- sided approach written by Crysten Lambert. This was during a time when it was indeed appropriate to print all sides to the discussion. The Alliance and Ms. Bailey refused to give any reason for their refusal to include our rebuttal. For the record. Richard Marshall President Siskiyou County Water Users |
A recent article appearing in this periodical written by Tara Lohan as an interview with two members of Trout Unlimited’s Brian Johnson and Chrysten Lambert as an interview continues the false narrative being routinely presented as fact throughout the Western Region as “the solution” to the “Salmon production issue”. They don’t deal with the historical issues from time immemorial and before the existence of the Klamath Hydroelectric facilities were constructed to provide necessary power to the region and provide for the development of agriculture. These dams are still in perfect condition and doing their job. They are routinely reviewed by dam safety experts from California as well as Oregon and reported to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as being safe and productive.

A total scam.
My family lived on Copco Lake for many years. Our boat dock would raise and lower depending on when they were releasing water for the salmon. We at the lake were caring for all fish. The condition of the salmon when they reached the hatchery was awful. Going further would not have happened. Gil netting was and is the distraction of of the salmon. Oh and the algae? Me, my children and pets well swam the in the lake and were still alive. They have actually killed the river now.
It’s really funny to think that salmon won’t be able to survive in their historic pre-dam range.
