
2025 Semi-Pro Champion – Ian Rakestraw
YREKA – Mother’s Day Weekend brought some of the best chainsaw carvers in the world to the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds for the NORCAL Invitational. The beautiful May weather did not disappoint in 2025 and the competition was fierce.
In 2025 a repeat winner was crowned champion, Mark Colp, Lakeport CA, carved a totem with a bear, wolf, eagle, turtle and fish to win the coveted championship. In second place was Constantin Morari, Roseville, CA with a pair of horses and third went to Jacob Lucas from Bonney Lake WA. With his dam beaver carving.
In the semi-pro division congratulations to champion Ian Rakestraw, Olympia WA who will move to the pro division after the win in Yreka.
In the quick carve competition, Chris Foltz, North Bend, OR was first and Wayne Lyon, Ocean City WA placed second for the weekend.
This competition is world class and those that attended we treated to some spectacular carvings over the Mother’s Day weekend
The 2025 Siskiyou Golden Fair “100 Years Past, Always a Blast” will run August 6-10 in Yreka.
