Siskiyou County Clerk Laura Bynum wants to remind voters of the upcoming March 5, 2024

PRESS RELEASE

Siskiyou County Clerk Laura Bynum wants to remind voters of the upcoming March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election, including approaching deadlines for registering to vote, voting for President and the need for poll workers to work the polls on Election Day.

For residents that are not currently registered to vote, if they register to vote by February 19th, they can take advantage of all the services offered by the Siskiyou County Clerkโ€™s Office.  Avoid lines on Election Day, register early โ€“ itโ€™s easy and quick.  You can register to vote at www.registertovote.ca.gov or you can contact the County Clerkโ€™s Office and request a registration form be mailed.

If you register by February 19th, you will receive your state and county voter guides in the mail with all the information you need to vote as well as a vote by mail ballot. ย

If youโ€™re unsure if you are registered, or want to check your party affiliation, you can check your registration status at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov, or call the County Clerkโ€™s Office.  Your political party does matter for the Presidential Primary election as your ballot will be issued to you based on the party you are registered with.

Voters that are not registered with a political party will be mailed a nonpartisan ballot which will not list a presidential candidate.  Voters who are not registered with a political party have been sent a post card allowing those voters to โ€œcross-overโ€ to the Democratic, American Independent or Libertarian parties which have allowed โ€œcross-overโ€ voting for voters not registered with a political party.  Voters who are not registered with a political party and want to vote for a Green Party, Peace and Freedom Party or the Republican Party candidate will need to register with the party to vote in their presidential primary.  You can always re-register again after the election as either a โ€œNo Party Preferenceโ€ voter or with any political party.

Voters who are registered with a political party will be mailed a ballot for the party they are registered with that will list the presidential candidates for that party.

The Siskiyou County Clerkโ€™s Office is in need of poll workers to work the polls on election day.ย  Poll workers receive a stipend for working Election Day and will be provided training.ย  If interested, please contact the County Clerkโ€™s Office at 530-842-8084 as soon as possible. ย
