Lifelong Siskiyou County resident, Robert Eugene Aubrey Sr., passed away on November 20, 2023 at his home in Yreka.
Robert was born on April 23, 1944 in Yreka. At age 15, he lied about his age in order to secure a job at a local lumber mill. That lie led to “over 50 damn years of hard work” in the industry which Robert loved! When not working, he was an avid fisherman and an experienced traditional tribal fisherman. Robert enjoyed cutting firewood, collecting aluminum cans, a socializing. He loved to sit with company, which he always had, and chat about all things, and he enjoyed taking drives around the county, specifically down river.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings. He was survived by his children: Robert, Jr., Tammy, and Wayne, Barry Hockaday and Troy Hockaday; twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Happy Camp Cemetery on Saturday, December 9 at 12 Noon.
