YPD Detains Arsonist While CalFire Investigates

CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers make an Arrest

CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers, in collaboration with the Yreka Police Department, successfully apprehended an individual suspected of arson, resulting in the arrest. The suspect’s actions were determined to be the cause of the fire.

Yreka, CA -At approximately 3 P.M. on August 4, 2023, CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers responded to a report of a commercial structure fire near the Walmart parking lot. A witness told fire personnel of a suspicious individual who was seen in the area when the fire started. Yreka Police Department detained the suspect while CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers determined the origin and cause investigation of the fire. CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers, in conjunction with Yreka Police Department, arrested!

Timothy Sage, age 44 from Yreka, for causing the fire. Sage was transported to the Siskiyou County Jail where he was booked on the following charges:

CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE: 453(a) – Felony

CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE: 451(d) – Felony

CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE: 594(b)(1)- Felony
