About This Event

Rituals are essential nourishment for the soul, just as food sustains the body. In these times, we are called to remember what many traditional cultures have long held sacred: communal grief rituals are a vital force that holds a community together. They offer powerful pathways to return to ourselves, to one another, and to the living Earth. These practices help us feel our shared humanity and tend both the ache and the longing for deeper belonging.

During this gathering of Wails and Whispers Between the Worlds, we come together as a village to be the "apprentice for sorrow." In being witnessed, and in listening deeply to others, we begin to give shape to what has felt unspoken. Grief becomes something we carry together. In this shared field, we honor grief as a natural and intelligent part of life, an experience to be felt. This space invites nervous system co-regulation, collective healing, and the remembering that we are woven into something larger than ourselves.

You are invited to join us in praising the sacredness of grief and gratitude through sharing circles, songs, poetry, movement, sacred listening, ceremony, rage release, and creative expression. This body of work draws inspiration from the deep wisdom of Francis Weller, Sobonfu Somé, and Malidoma Somé of the Dagara people of West Africa.

This offering is fully experiential and grounded in the body. Rather than analyzing our grief, we move with it, breathe with it, sing with it, and feel it within the container of community, nature, and the unseen. Together, we create a courageous, yet safe, container for grief to move supported by song, spirit, and the living world around us.
