Mother’s Day wildflower show hosted by Forest Service, Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society  

(Yreka, CA, April 21, 2026) — The Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, in partnership with Shasta Chapter California Native Plant Society, are proudly hosting the 33rd Annual Siskiyou County Mother’s Day Wildflower Show at the Yreka Community Center at 810 N. Oregon Street, downtown Yreka.  

The show is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. It features a presentation of native wildflowers, native plants for sale, and artwork by botanical illustrator Paula Fong. The Shasta Chapter California Native Plant Society will be present to answer questions.  

Additionally, a photo contest will be hosted online at www.shasta-cnps.org/photo-contest/  and open for voting May 3–8.  To join the contest please submit up to 3 of your native wildflower photos in color, black & white, closeup, or landscape to [email protected] by April 27. Live native plants will be awarded for first, second and third place finishes in the photo contest. 

In addition to the wildflower show, in celebration of Migratory Bird Day, the Klamath National Forest will be hosting a guided birdwatching walk. It will take place on Saturday, May 9, at Greenhorn Park in Yreka. The event begins at 8 a.m., with participants asked to meet at the upper parking lot. 

This event will be led by local bird experts. The morning outing offers an opportunity to observe and learn about spring bird species using the park’s diverse habitats. Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars, spotting scopes, and field guides.
