Weekly Edition #6 in the stores.. Am I ever learning a thing or two.

Dear Valued Subscribers,

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support of Siskiyou News. As a born and raised Siskiyou County resident, it has been an honor to serve this community by providing local news and information. Your dedication to staying informed and engaged is what drives me to continue this journey, despite the challenges that come with running a small publication.

As many of you know, Siskiyou News is a one-man operation, and I have been transparently sharing my experiences, including the financial hurdles I face. Printing costs, distribution, and accounting are just a few of the challenges I navigate daily. However, your support and the knowledge that this publication makes a difference in our community keeps me going.

I believe that access to local news and information is crucial for the well-being of our community. It is my goal to keep Siskiyou News accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. To achieve this, I have been selling the printed publication for just a $1.50 in retail establishments making only a quarter per copy. While this model helps keep the publication affordable, it also presents sustainability concerns for the long term.

As I continue to grow and improve Siskiyou News, I am considering various options to ensure its longevity while maintaining accessible. I am open to hearing your thoughts and suggestions on this matter. Your input is invaluable to me, and I encourage you to reach out with any ideas or concerns you may have.

My goal is to find a balance that allows me to cover the costs of running Siskiyou News while still providing essential news and information to all members of our community. Your support enables me to go to meetings, livestream to social media and cover events in the county. Since cash flow is and has been an issue, one of small ways to cover some of Shereen's travel around the south county is to give her the money from the sales of the weekly edition around McCloud and Dunsmuir. Just because I am willing to work tirelessly, it is not right to ask her to cover, promote events at a cost to her.

I want to emphasize that our commitment to serving Siskiyou County remains unwavering. I truly believe that together, we can create a stronger, more informed community. Your support has been instrumental in getting Siskiyou News to where it is today, and I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I look forward to continuing to serve you and working together to keep local journalism alive in Siskiyou County.

With gratitude,
Jay A. Martin
