Marsha Kay Quigley Obituary
Longtime Siskiyou County resident Marsha Kay Quigley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 20, 2024, at her home in Redding.
Born on May 28, 1944, in Seattle to Leland Belsey Sides and Larhee Clark Sides, Marsha met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Gerald Quigley while attending Modoc High. They married in 1963 and were blessed with three children: Jeff, Darin, and Julie. Marsha dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. She worked various jobs in grocery stores and as a housekeeper but was always ready to travel across California to support her husband, who worked for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Marsha cherished her and Gerald’s trips to the Southwest, where they frequently attended Arizona Diamondbacks spring training. She had a passion for playing slot machines and could often be found enjoying this pastime or shopping, with Pahrump, NV, being one of her favorite destinations. A keen collector, Marsha loved antiquing with her friends. She cherished her family deeply: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. An avid gardener who adored her flowers, Marsha was also known for her culinary skills and her expertise at playing pinochle.
Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald, in 2018, and her daughter-in-law, Janie, in 2022. She is survived by her children: Jeffrey Quigley (wife Erin), Darin Quigley (wife Nancy), and Julie Quigley Stovall (husband Alan); her brother, Gary Sides; her sister, Sharon Huisingh; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held for Marsha on Saturday, June 1st, at 1:00 p.m. at Winema Cemetery in Weed, with a reception to follow.
