William Florian: for a return visit and encore performance of “Those Were The Days” concert

The Red Scarf Society for the Performing Arts is pleased to welcome back William Florian for a return visit and encore performance of “Those Were The Days” concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10th at the Yreka Church of the Nazarene, 415 Evergreen Lane, Yreka. He was last here in October 2016 and delivered an enjoyable performance. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a great evening of entertainment.

Florian, former lead singer of the 1960’s group The New Christy Minstrels, will perform popular songs from the era such as classics by Peter Paul and Mary, John Denver, The Mamas and the Papas and more.

The New Christy Minstrels was a large popular folk-oriented musical group formed by singer/guitarist Randy Sparks, that came to life in the 1960’s and enjoyed a great deal of success. At that time folk music was very popular and Sparks created a 14-voice ensemble. Large commercial folk groups did not exist in those days, and The New Christy Minstrels burst onto the folk scene.  William Florian joined the group in 1977. He provides an upbeat musical journey of America’s greatest songs of the 60’s.

Past show reviews state “William Florian was a perfect combination of musician and storyteller, blending wonderful music with humor and memoir.”

“William is an exceptional performer. He is not only a gifted and very professional musician, but a delightful comedian, as well. His stage presence and personality are stellar – he reaches out and grabs the audience from the very get go and keeps them involved and entertained right through his final number. His repertoire is broad and covers the era of 60’s folk music well. But, perhaps most delightful of all, the spirit of that time appears to have stayed with William. He seems to truly believe in the goodness of people, the brotherhood of mankind, and our place as stewards of the earth.”

Tickets are $30 at the outlets; $35 at the door and $5 students. They are available in Yreka at Nature’s Kitchen, Liberty Arts and Jupiter Salon; Soul Connections in Mt. Shasta and Etna Hardware and Sporting Goods.

Show Sponsors: Norma Geyer; Pfeiffer Vacuum.
